This past Saturday, July 11, 2015, Nashville country recording artist, Doug Briney amazed the crowd at Fairgrounds Nashville Speedway with his rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner." Doug's performance was hailed by a top Speedway representative as "One of the Top 5 National Anthems" they'd ever heard at the venue. Doug performed the National Anthem prior to the "Night Of the Stars" races, which included the 100-lap Big Machine Records Pro Late Model Challenge Series. Doug said, "It was such an incredible honor to perform the National Anthem at the Nashville Speedway. So, firstly, I want to say 'thank you' to them for having me out. I love the races, and the fans who are so devoted to supporting them. Of course, the National Anthem has so much meaning to me, and I wanted to pay my respect to our country and our veterans with my performance. When I was done, I received some pretty incredible compliments from everyone, including a top representative, who told me, mine was in the top 5 performances, in over 40 years. It was a very humbling moment for me."
In 2013, Doug Briney won the Best Live Performance at the Independent Country Music Awards, for a previous rendition of the National Anthem.
